Client
Winter Wildlands Foundation and US Forest Service
Location
Bozeman, Montana
In the spring of 2023, the Winter Wildlands Foundation contacted me, inspired by the new trail signage I had developed for Hyalite. They expressed an interest in creating a similar set of signs for the Bridger Mountains in Bozeman, with tailored messaging that would resonate with that area's unique characteristics.
The Foundation envisioned a series of three distinct signs, each harmonizing with the changing seasons and catering to the specific requirements of each trailhead within the Bridgers. The design brief called for signs that would accommodate winter activities, regulate motorized traffic, and designate areas exclusively for foot traffic.
To ensure inclusivity, we decided to provide translations in Spanish for each sign, thereby extending the reach of our message to a wider audience.
These signs are intended to serve as educational tools that guide visitors on sustainable outdoor practices, while also emphasizing the importance of safety through the identification of potential risks. Our goal is to foster an environment where visitors are well-informed and encouraged to act responsibly, ensuring their time spent in the Bridger Mountains is both safe and enjoyable.
