Mt. Sneffels has always felt a little dramatic in the best way. Sharp ridgelines, layered basins, and that unmistakable silhouette rising above the San Juans. This piece was inspired by the way Sneffels catches evening light, when the mountains shift into cool blues and purples beneath a sky that seems almost too saturated to be real.
Built entirely from retired climbing rope, each contour line and color transition mirrors the movement of the landscape itself. The rolling foreground pulls into the steep alpine faces, creating a sense of depth and movement while still keeping the piece graphic and clean. The warm sunset tones wrapped around the edge frame the mountain like a fading horizon after a long day outside.
Like all Hyalite Designs pieces, this work gives retired rope a second life. Every rope used once carried stories through mountains and now becomes part of a new landscape inspired by them.
